Windows Upgrades

Get Windows 11 Ready

Windows 11 is the most powerful and most secure operating system available for PCs today. If your computer supports it, you should upgrade now and start using it.

If your computer doesn’t support Windows 11 and you’re still running Windows 10, you need to be conscious of October 14th 2025, because that is when Microsoft support officially ends and security updates will stop. In this situation, a new computer is your best option – if you’d like some help choosing your next device, we do offer Free Buying Advice. We also offer Computer Setup & Data Transfer packages if you’d like help with that too.

If you’re running an earlier version of Windows, you should take action now – in most cases we would recommend replacing your device.

There is another option if your device isn’t officially supported by Windows 11 – we can still upgrade it for you with a workaround solution, but it’s important to understand the risks and the drawbacks.

Firstly, your device may not have the necessary performance capabilities to run Windows 11 well, and although we could maybe alleviate this somewhat with a RAM or SSD Upgrade, it might not be prudent to make such an investment in an ageing machine.

Secondly, there’s also the possibility that Microsoft will take steps to prevent the workaround solution from being effective in the future. We don’t expect this to happen and have installed Windows 11 on some of our own older devices by using this workaround.

Finally, you could also run into compatibility issues.

We don’t usually recommend the workaround for customers and would normally suggest you purchase a device compatible with Windows 11. This doesn’t have to be a brand-new computer. Often, a second-hand or refurbished device will serve you equally as well. If you’d like some help deciding, we do offer Free Advice.

If you’re deadset on keeping Windows 10 or you’re dependent on software not compatible with Windows 11, you can still get security updates from Microsoft, but you’ll need to pay for the privilege. The first year is expected to cost personal consumers £30. There’s currently no information on pricing for subsequent years.
