They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, however, with Rother Valley IT, that isn’t exactly true. Whilst we don’t work for free, we are happy to offer some free advice. We see this as an investment because if we look after our customers, we can build loyalty and long-term relationships. This will far outweigh the time invested. PC & Laptop Buying Advice – For when you’re not quite sure you’re making the right choice. Just tell us a little bit about your needs, budget, and what you’ll be using the computer for. PC & Laptop Repair Advice – It might surprise you, but it isn’t uncommon for us to recommend against a repair we could charge you for. Sometimes, although a repair might be possible, there might be reasons, relating to cost or other factors, which means it isn’t always the best option for the customer. It’s sometimes a better option in the long term to purchase a new device. On the other hand, we might also recommend a repair instead of buying a new device. Every situation is different, but we’ll always try to help you make the right decision for your needs. 

PC & Laptop Upgrade Advice – Sometimes upgrading your computer is the best option. RAM & SSD Upgrades can yield exceptional results, and quite often an upgrade to an existing device that is a few years old will have it performing better than some of the budget/mid-range computers on sale now. Broadband Advice – If you’re not too happy with your current provider or are looking for a cheaper deal and have decided to switch your broadband supplier – it’s important to make the right choice. It isn’t always just about the cost or the advertised speeds. There are many other factors which you should consider such as customer service levels and the quality of the equipment provided. We’ve experienced most providers so we’re well-positioned to offer good advice.

Antivirus & Internet Security – You probably know how important it is to protect your computer from viruses and stay safe online, however, there is a minefield of options when choosing anti-virus and internet security solutions. Of course, some are better than others, and what might be right for one person could be a terrible solution for another. You probably know that both free and paid-for options exist. For some people, a free option will be all they need, whereas others should almost certainly select a more robust option that will incur an annual cost. Backup Advice – Just as many options exist for anti-virus, multiple options exist for backing up your data too. Different solutions will suit different people, and the cost varies too. Some options are free, whilst others attract a monthly or annual fee. Data can be backed up to the cloud or a storage device such as an external Hard Drive or Memory stick that you keep at home.
